Jakarta, - The hotel association is worried that the May 22 demonstration that will lead to chaos can have an impact on the tourism and hotel occupancy sectors. They hope that the political situation in Jakarta will soon be conducive.
"The influence is clear, there is a decline in occupancy rates and hotel revenue. Surely we hope that it will not drag on and return to normal," said General Chairman of the Indonesian General Manager Association (IHGMA) Wishnu HS Al Bataafi quoted from Antara on Wednesday (22/5). )
He said the demonstration that took place in Jakarta had an effect on hotel occupancy, especially around the location of the action. He also hoped the incident would end soon and the Indonesian economy in the tourism sector, especially hotel occupancy in Jakarta, returned to normal.
"Especially in areas near Bawaslu, such as MH Thamrin, Sudirman, Jatibaru was very affected by tourists, so tourists did not dare to visit," he said.
Mentioned about the determination of the calculation results by the KPU which won Joko Widodo-Ma'ruf Amin, he hoped the new government could continue to boost the tourism sector. Moreover, he said, this sector became the second highest foreign exchange earner after oil palm.
"It is expected that after re-election, foreign exchange can be even higher and occupy the first position as a foreign exchange earner," he said.
On the other hand, the next period of government can create easy access to investment, especially the construction of hotels in tourist destinations.
"Investments are made easier. There are not many doors so that it does not drag on in the construction of hotels," he said.
